How to write right?

I’ve been mooching around the internet lately. Mostly on Facebook but a couple of other places too. I even joined a few groups, set up pages etc. one thing that’s dawned on me is the sheer volume of writing groups and pages out there. If you go to Amazon and put in the phrase, how to write a book, you get over 30,000 results. That’s so much that many of these books are free just so that people with read the same advice over and over again and then maybe, magically, they will have their novel in their hands, and it’ll be a best seller.

Again, there’s a lot of groups out there of writers trying to help one another. It does seem that we are in a golden age of writers. That’s the problem though isn’t it? The field is so full it’s difficult for anyone to really shine and distinguish themselves.

I know, now, there’s not a chance of me making any money in writing. There’s too many people with the same talent level all jockeying for position to be the next big thing.

That doesn’t mean I’m going to stop nor should anyone stop. In fairness, I’ve barely started thanks to life taking some rather dramatic turns.

It also means it’s time to knuckle down and focus, generate output, get eyes on the page. Even if nobody reads my work, I enjoy it. I enjoy the process of sitting on a bus, getting an idea, fleshing it out and making it real. That’s where I have a passion. It’s what I love, (well aside from my partner and my cats) and it’s what I’ll continue to do.

So, here’s a declaration. From this day forth there will be at least one piece of writing on my site, at least once a week. It won’t be pretty, it may be rushed, dull and potentially incomprehensible but it will be out there for all to see.

If you want to suggest topics, stories, ideas or anything else get in touch and I will write it for you. Afterall, if you do what you love you’ll never work a day in your life, right?
