Thoughts on Movies

Today I’m kicking back. I was going to write something about how middle class it is having Christmas Fizz delivered to the door. Then I sat down put on Netflix to find a nice horror film to start the day.

I should add the caveat that I’m not the bah humbug type with not wanting to watch a Christmas movie. It was more that I just happen be in the mood for a bit of a horror flick.

Personally I much rather psychological horror than anything else.

The problem is that the current trench of movies seem to be falling into a number of camps away from a good film making.

– Knockoffs of successful franchises.

– Gore/bloody/body horror

– Hand held camera

All three of these are mostly dull and cheap. Mostly they are cheap to make and dull to watch.

I appreciate that some movies are so bad they’re great. Look at the Evil Dead, that’s a classic franchise.

Maybe I’m just tired of the same tropes being trotted out all the time. The joke of a hack calling anyone else a hack is of course not lost of me.

It would be nice to see to changes, get away from hack and slash steady cam remakes of a movie from the the 70’s and lets get on to something new, different and terrifying!

Drunk Blogging!!

Hello there you sexy bitch. You beautiful wonder thing, you amazing… of wine.

Yes drinking on a Monday. It is Monday right?

I really hope so.

I have a huge soft spot for good wine. I grew up in a family that thought anything over five quid was an expensive wine. I think wine should be cost efficient but also nice. The cheap stuff really is just gut rot. I mean other than getting smashed what’s the point.

Disposable income isn’t amazing at the moment, however some days you just need a drink.

Today is one of those days for sure.

I hate dealing with anxiety. It crept up really slowly today and smacked me over the head about about 2pm. Almost having a panic attack for no reason at my desk and then coming home in a grouch to a grouch.

December sucks. Bring back the light! Stope trying to sell me things I don’t need.

On the plus side, wine and special offers on said tasty drinks.

Can’t be all that bad I suppose.

An Update

So what has been going on?

I got a stomach bug which landed me on my ass.

After that my back decided to hate me quite a lot.

On top of that work has been quite busy.

Finally food poisoning.

So aside from the stomach issue I’ve also got lordosis of the lower back. Lots of exercise to strengthen the core and loose about 60Kg.

Life if going to become immensely dull.

I have been sick lately and not had the energy to update properly. I will be working on a lot of writing over the next couple of days and service should resume shortly.

A muse on meteorology

It’s that time of year again. We wrap up warm. Invest in the waterproof boots and enjoy the change of atmosphere. Mostly I find the change in nature the most comforting. The colours of the leaves, the weather doing its thing of being…….wait 21 degrees. 21 FUCKING DEGREES! IN OCTOBER!!!

Sorry but it has been a bit of nonsense. Got the flu jab and it feel like we should be getting our jabs for travelling instead.

A armature hobby of mine is meteorology. Don’t ask why, it’s always been something that’s been of interest. Probably since being raised in Ireland it means that weather has been an ever present issue in my life.

Watching the weather and the climate change over my own lifetime has been worrisome. Cards on the table, I think Climate Change is real and humans are having an impact on it. I also think vaccines are a good thing and the Earth is a globe.

The problem is that now as a human living on the planet we are having to adapt so much more to these changes.

At the moment we’re complaining about it being warm in October and having half a meter of snow in February. It makes me worry but it’s not enough to get us to change too much either is it?

What would make you change how you live? For me it would be lack of coffee.

Don’t get me wrong, we recycle, take the bus or walk everywhere but we still produce waste and buy things online. The thing is how much will we be willing to be flexible?
